What Is Reiki?

Usui Reiki: 

Reiki is a very gentle and profound healing touch technique. Reiki is a system of healing and  spiritual development that has grown in popularity and success worldwide. Reiki promotes self-healing of your physical health, well-being of the mind, emotions and spirit. It is a non-intrusive hands-on practice that is used side by side with conventional medicine. Reiki is sometimes called energy medicine and is recognized and used as a CAM (complimentary and alternative medicine) therapy in traditional medical settings without contra indications.

Reiki is the Japanese word for “Universal Life Force Energy”.  When “Rei” and “Ki” are defined in two component parts: Rei is universal, transcendental spirit, mysterious power, essence. Ki is the vital life force energy, similar to Chi of Chinese acupuncture, Light to Christians, and Bioplasmic Energy to some researchers.

Reiki is not a religion, as it holds no creed or doctrine. Dr.Usui rediscovered this ancient technique or technology that was hidden in the Tibetan Sutras and it has been passed on and taught to people around the world.

We are all born with energy (Universal Life Force Energy). It is what holds us together and keeps us functioning on all levels. Reiki allows us to heal the emotional, mental and physical body. (See Reiki Services) You can experience Reiki as a client receiving a treatment or you can learn how to utilize this energy by taking a class- or both! It is easy and simple to learn. Many of my students practice Reiki on themselves every day to achieve a more balanced and healthy life.

What makes Reiki different from other healing methods is the attunement or initiation process which the student experiences in the various levels of Reiki classes.  A person who has been taught Reiki has a very ancient technology for fine tuning the physical and etheric bodies to a higher vibratory level and has the ability to channel higher amounts of Universal Life Force Energy.

Karuna Reiki®:  

Karuna Reiki® evolved out of Usui and Tibetan Reiki. From a desire and knowingness that there is always something greater waiting to be uncovered, William Rand, founder of the International Center for Reiki Training, gathered trusted and experienced healers together and formulated this advanced form of Reiki which utilizes higher frequencies of energy.

Karuna Reiki® can be defined as the Reiki of Compassion. The word Karuna is a Sanskrit word.  It is translated to mean any action that is taken to diminish the suffering of others and could also be translated as “compassionate action”. 

In May of 2011, I studied and trained to become a Karuna Reiki® Master through the International Center for Reiki Training. Karuna Reiki® is only taught to people who are already Reiki masters.

I use this technique along with Usui Reiki, and many of my clients have experienced their treatments as having stronger and deeper healing energies.

As in most things in life, Reiki must be experienced to be appreciated.  May you experience joy in your exploration of Reiki !

BODY:  Ease pain; reduce effects of stress; increase effectiveness of medication; induce sleep; help body cope with trauma of illness or injury; improve action of immune system; accelerate healing and promote balance.  Reiki can act as a useful adjunct to allopathic, naturopathic and chiropractic treatment by supporting the overall healing process.

SPIRIT:  Develop compassion; expand understanding of self and others; experience connection with a Supreme Being or universal truth; promote reverence for life.  Reiki awakens our spiritual nature and opens the door to explore that aspect of oneself.
